This group meets to discuss ways to improve the school's educational programming in consultation with board members, educational leadership, and classroom teachers. Membership currently includes Sharyn Laedlein, Evelyn Marzan, Elisabeth Mason, Charlene Melville, and Rafael Ortiz. More are welcome.

Office of the Head of School & Chief Executive Officer
Amber Charter School has a different organizational structure than government managed public schools. Amber is led by Rafael Ortiz, the Head of School & Chief Executive Officer. Amber is a local educational agency or school district; thus Mr. Ortiz is “superintendent” of one school with duties larger in scope than a traditional school-based principal. His duties include:
--ensuring students are receiving a sound education.
--working with a volunteer board in monthly meetings & serving as a member of the board's six standing committees: executive, development, education, facilities, finance, & governance.
--managing the senior directors of academics, finance, & facilities.
--raising funds from government, foundations, corporations, & individual donors.
--increasing the school's profile via extensive public relations with colleagues in all industries.
--leading the annual new student recruitment efforts.
--organizing the ongoing hiring of employees.
